I always love it when it when I see Julieta’s face at a dress rehearsal. She was kind enough to share with me some of the photos she took of work I designed, including the Cage/Cunningham collaboration 4Walls/Doubletoss Interludes at Baryshnikov Arts Center, Levi Gonzalez’s Counterfeit Scenario, and Amanda Loulaki’s Untitled.

New York Class Description

Lighting Design for Dance Description:
This classroom and practical workshop will be a technical tutorial and discussion about the process of creating lighting designs for dance. All efforts will be made to demystify lighting in order to promote informative decision making and more easeful discussion in future collaborative processes. This class is designed for anyone interested in dance lighting including dancers, choreographers, and stage technicians. Participants must be present for all workshop dates (unless noted as optional).

Several of the show’s I’ve worked on in the past few months have gotten some press. Here’s an update:

Marissa Perel wrote about Levi Gonzalez’s piece Counterfit Scenerio on her blog. It was on a great split bill with Amanda Loulaki.

Bessie Award-Winning THEM up at Centre Pompidou got some French press.

Claudia La Rocca wrote aboout Jodi Melnick at New York Live Arts
It was an amazing show - a solo in collaboration with Trisha Brown, and a super dynamic quartet with music by People Get Ready.

The New York Times’s also gave a glowing review to the John Cage / Merce Cunningham evening: 4Walls/Doubletoss at Baryshnikov Arts Center.
I was really excited about my lighting approach for this piece, hopefully I will expand on this in the future in it’s own blog post.

BDT had a super series of perfomances at the Harvey Theater.
Paula Lobo took some great photos for the New York Times:

Wendy Perron just mentioned BDT in the same article as Merce Cunningham’s Final Event at the Park Avenue Armory, for which I was gratefully an ASM for the shows and New Year’s Eve: Merce’s Other Legacy.
